A logo is a graphic or typographic symbol that represents a company. It combines text and imagery to create a recognizable brand identity. A good logo leaves a lasting impression and matches the company's colors and design style to capture the interest of the target audience. I focus on legible fonts, minimalistic shapes, and clean details to make the message clear and memorable. Upon request, I can convert your sketch into a final vector version, vectorize an existing logo, or create a new design from scratch. The logo can then be used consistently across all media.
Corporate Design is part of Corporate Identity (CI) and includes the visual and verbal representation of a brand. It ensures a consistent appearance across all platforms and strengthens brand recognition. CD defines standardized design elements such as logos, colors, fonts, and marketing materials, along with guidelines ("Do’s and Don’ts") that should be followed.
A domain is the address you enter into a browser to visit a website. It also appears after the “@” in an email address. While a domain name can influence search engine rankings, it’s just one of many SEO factors (alongside content, structure, backlinks, etc.). Valid domain characters include letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), and hyphens (–), with a length between 3 and 63 characters.
Web hosts are service providers that offer storage space on their servers so your website is accessible online 24/7. Many also provide daily backups to prevent data loss. In common usage, web hosts are also referred to as providers. Without web hosting, your website would not be accessible on the internet.
Texts are usually written or edited by professional copy editors. Copy editing improves grammar, spelling, style, and tone. Unlike proofreading, it also includes changes to content, word choice, and sentence structure. You can write the texts yourself, have them created by me, or we can develop them together – for example, via online meetings to define topics and structure.
Web design includes the visual, functional, and structural design of websites. It incorporates UX (User Experience) principles to improve usability. I create layouts in Adobe InDesign with a focus on aesthetics and structure, including homepage, navigation, header, topic areas, and footer — starting with the desktop version. Upon request, I can also design the mobile-optimized responsive version. Texts, images, and videos are placed in a visually balanced way to ensure an intuitive user experience.
Web development refers to the technical implementation of a website. This can involve installing themes or building a site from scratch using languages like XHTML (structure), CSS (design), and JavaScript (functions). To simplify content updates, I use CMS platforms that allow editing without programming knowledge.
A CMS allows you to update website content like text and images without programming skills. Popular open-source CMS platforms include WordPress, Typo3, Drupal, and Joomla. I especially like working with Weblication, though it requires a license starting at approx. CHF 400. Once your site is complete, you’ll receive login access so you can manage your content independently.
